J&K Govt Announces 200 Units of Free Electricity for AAY Families, Focuses on Power Sector Revival
Srinagar, Mar 7 Fulfilling a crucial bean pledge of the National Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has blazoned 200 units of free electricity per month for all Antyodaya( AAY) families in the Union Territory. The action, integrated with the PM Suryaghar Bijli Yojana, will enable the installation of grid- connected solar systems, barring electricity bills for the heirs.
Presenting the budget in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister stated that the scheme will be enforced with an investment of ₹ 750 crore over five times. “ This wo n’t only give relief to economically weaker sections but also reduce Aggregate Technical & Commercial( AT&C) losses and promote sustainable energy, ” he said.
pressing the fiscal stress in the power sector, he revealed that ₹ 28,000 crore had been espoused in the last many times, pushing public debt from 48 of the Gross State Domestic Product( GSDP) in FY 2015- 16 to 52 in 2023- 24. With the power sector linked as a top precedence, the government aims to stabilize it through reforms and strategic investments.( CNS)
